Most people who come to Lake Baikal, go first in Irkutsk region - this is the west coast of Lake Baikal. But also its eastern shore has many beautiful and interesting places.

In this article we will talk about the Goryachinsk village in which I have been in the summer of 2013.

The eastern coast of Lake Baikal is located in the Republic of Buryatia. The distance from the capital - Ulan-Ude to Goryachinsk is 175 km northeast. You can reach the village by trip minibuses. The road runs through Selengisk midlands, which makes it rather tortuous and tiring.

The name of Goryachinsk is obliged to hot mineral springs. In 1775, Irkutsk governor ordered to arrange the pool here. In consequence around the source, the resort "Turkinskie mineral water" formed (the name of the river nearby - Turka). Goryachinsk mineral water refers to a nitrogen-siliceous term (the outlet temperature of 54.5 degrees).

Currently, in the Goryachinsk spa resort continues to operate, where treatment of diseases is carried out such as the musculoskeletal system, skin, nervous system, respiratory system (including asthma and chronic bronchitis), as well as gynecological, Andrology (male), allergic diseases. The resort includes 11 dormitories for 375 beds.

By the way, in the administrative building of the resort there is probably the only ATM Savings Bank in the village.

In addition to the resort, you can stop in guest houses, there are a lot of which in village, and a few simple hotels. Some local residents have established guest yurt in their land. There is not central water supply, so in most places you can only wash in the bath, by prior arrangement. But if you search, you can find a room with a shower with hot and cold water.

In the village there are shops and a few cafes. Main dish, of course, is the Buryat pozy (buuzy). Pozy is - very tasty, satisfying and inexpensive food.

In my opinion, there is a lack of a cafe in Goryachinsk. We went to eat all the time in the same cafe.

But, the main center of attraction in Goryachinsk is - a Baikal. The village itself is situated perpendicular to the lake, so to get to the Baikal shore you need to use one of the two roads. The first road is - the main street of the village, ending (or beginning) on the beach, and the second one – is a forest "health trail" that runs along the taiga forest.

The beach in Goryachinsk is very nice, sandy and great. Entrance to the lake is quiet, takes a long time to go to reach the depth. There are few tourists and vacationers, so it is very quiet on the beach. But this is only on weekdays. On the weekend comes a lot of young people from Ulan-Ude, and the beach is no longer a peaceful place. So, if you want to come to Lake Baikal for a short time, better come during the week.
